People are afraid of digging up the past or "blaming" their parents for their issues, but this approach is different.
You don't need to remember the story or have a narrative to become free of trauma, you just need to liberate it's sensatory weight from your body, in the way that wild animals naturally do, so that you can feel your vibrant alive energetic expression again.
And the truth is, no-one gets to adulthood without experiencing some level of trauma. In a society which is so sexually shut down, where between 1 in 2 and 1 in 3 women have experienced some form of sexual abuse, doing this work is essential and very much needed.
One of my trauma teachers said that the only difference between children and adults in terms of their energetic aliveness is unhealed trauma and I believe there is a lot of truth in that.
The Adverse Childhood Events (ACE) study found that two-thirds of adults experienced childhood traumatic events on an ongoing regular basis. That is 2 out of 3 people. And so it is safe to say, that everyone is affected by it, if not directly, then certainly via someone you know or love.
1 in 4 young women suffer from anxiety, depression, panic disorder, phobia or OCD. 1 in 8 young women have PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) at any one time.
I was one of those women.
This is what I mean when I say we live in a traumatised society where trauma is embedded as “normal".
Just because something is common does not mean it is a good place to reside, and living in a constant state of panic/ anxiety/ disassociation or fear is not a place you have to stay.
Nor do you need years of endless therapy to liberate yourself from trauma.
It is time to empower ourselves with healing practices, that animals do in the wild naturally, to discharge stress from our bodies so that we can live more truly to who we really are.
I am not a trauma expert, but trauma release has been a significant aspect of my training and own personal liberation, bringing me closer to my true erotic, creative, feminine nature.
My wish for you is freedom from the lingering past, so that you may truly live all the wonders this life has to offer.
